Research
Research has been in the areas of free choice mineral supplementation, harvesting forages for optimal quality, fecal scoring and diet interactions, forage analysis methods for ration formulation, and formulating rations for groups of lactating cows. Current research interests include precision feeding of dairy cows to reduce nutrient output.

Extension
Administer the extension agent forage testing program for Virginia Cooperative Extension through a private lab. Serve as the Virginia dairy production contact for The National Animal Identification System through the Virginia Depatrment of Agriculture and Consumer Services which will enroll premises and identify animals. Work with the Virginia Dairy Environmental Stewardship Council to continue discussion between the dairy community and the federal and state agencies (NRCS, DCR, DEQ, and VCE). Develop educational programs related to precision feeding of dairy cows to reduce nutrient output.
